A jolt of the pure stuff. The best sort of London Walks alchemy. What you conjure up when you mix off-the-beaten-path-London with history that would do the Sorcerer’s Apprentice proud. Here be knights, nuns and notoriety: an urban enchanted forest in the expurgated version; Hieronymous Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights in the unexpurgated. Fasten your seatbelts. Watch the pageant unfurl. Gentle monks and chivalric knights (dear me, how the mighty fell). A bursting royal body; a noble head in a biscuit tin; an annual ready-meal delivered to an open coffin; 1100 beheaded virgins; nuns so outrageous all of Europe was shocked; a place of lunacy where the bones of incarcerated re-appear at regular intervals. The meeting point is just outside the exit of Tower Hill Tube. Meet by the Tower Hill Tram Coffee Stall. N.B. the walk ends at Liverpool Street Station.
