Rick Jones

Rick Jones is a Blue Badge Guide (and pianist and freelance writer) who for most of his working life was a journalist. As such he was for ten years chief music critic for the Evening Standard and he remains Secretary of the Critics Circle (founded 1913). He developed a form of costume journalism in which he reconstructed journeys, mostly walks, by famous individuals in costume. As JS Bach he walked across Germany, as Felix Mendelssohn he hiked across the Highlands of Scotland, as Edward Elgar he cycled across the Malvern Hills and as Shakespeare’s clown Will Kemp he danced across East Anglia. It was these experiences which gave him a taste for walking tours and the tales to be told from them. Meet Rick – here he is talking about his Medical London tours.
