Judith Kent

Corruption. Crime. Politics. Power. Conflict. Judith Kent spent years dealing with them for a living. These days she goes looking for them in the history of the City of London.

Born and brought up in London, Judith started out as a lawyer, working on human rights for the UN in Latin America. She went on to run humanitarian missions in Kosovo and Serbia and spent more than 20 years working on British international development programmes in countries including India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Governance was her field. How power works, who holds it and who pays the price were her daily questions.

They’re excellent questions to bring to the City. Now a qualified City of London Green Badge guide, Judith brings that lifetime’s experience of power, politics and people to London’s oldest streets. On Judith’s walks, the merchants, apprentices, migrants and money men step out from behind the grand buildings. A familiar lane leads to a lost river; a livery hall opens up a story of trade and ambition. And Dick Whittington? She’ll examine the evidence. The cat may need a lawyer.

Judith researches her walks meticulously, then tells the stories with the warmth and enthusiasm that make people see a place they thought they knew for the first time.
