Short read: A Magical Mystery Tour of  Beatles’ London

“Oh, I believe in yesterday” read: Guided by the pied piper of Beatlemania, The Magical Mystery Tour is waiting to take you away…

“A splendid time is guaranteed for all.”

Let’s introduce you to our band. Your Beatles London tour guide is the one and only Richard P. “His personal knowledge adds an element of credibility that is unavailable elsewhere” said USA Today. Richard really knows his Beatles history. Then on guitar, we have Adam, a national journalist and one of our leading music writers. He’s a rock n roll raconteur. “He’s like having your own personal rock star for a tour guide” said one of our walkers.

This Magical Mystery Tour is a chance to ‘get back’ to Beatlemania and London in the rock n roll era of the Swinging Sixties. It’s an absolute must for any Beatles fan.

Yes, The Beatles – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr – all came from Liverpool and started their career with Brian Epstein at the legendary Cavern Club. But, as their success and Beatlemania grew, the Fab Four headed to London where they lived, worked and played.

What will you see on our Beatles London tour?

You’ll have a magical mystery Beatles London walking tour. Our expert guide will help you to easily imagine a 1960s London when the Fab Four ruled the cultural capital of the world and crossed paths with peers like The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix.

Highlights include their Central London “Apple offices” on Savile Row where they played their famous rooftop session (their last live performance). The tiny art gallery where John Lennon first set eyes on Yoko Ono (that fateful encounter that changed everything). Paul McCartney’s headquarters.

And yes, you’ll visit their legendary recording studios – Abbey Road Studios. You’ll get to step onto the world-famous zebra crossing from the Abbey Road album cover. You’ll walk the walk and stop traffic on the Abbey Road crossing – a moment for your own iconic photoshoot.

We also run other Beatles London tours. Our In My Life walking tour centres on Marylebone. You’ll get to see places the Fab Four lived, where Beatles marriages took place, and film locations from A Hard Day’s Night and Help.

LONDON WALKS REVIEWS

“RICHARD Porter is the smartest man in Britain – at least when it comes to The Beatles. In reality, considering the Sixties pop scene was a hotbed of sex and psychedelic drugs, he probably knows more about The Beatles than the remaining members of the Fab Four can remember themselves.” Brian Crisp National Travel Editor, Escape

“When it comes to possessing a thorough knowledge of the movements of the Beatles, there are few who can surpass Richard Porter. Dubbed the “Beatles Brain of Britain,” his personal kinship with John, Paul, George and Ringo makes the London tours he conducts for London Walks some of the most popular in the city. After more than 20 years and guiding around 150,000 visitors, Richard’s lead is the one to heed. His personal knowledge adds an element of credibility that is unavailable elsewhere.”  USA Today

“The walls in front of the famous studios are smeared with a million cliches, long-standing graffiti proclaiming the fans’ undying love. Here, several years ago, Paul McCartney appeared while Porter was doing his tour. Springing cheerily from his limo, Paul consorted with the fans before vamoosing to cut his album. Porter had captured the moment. Snap! We are agog. For there it is: Paul looking cherubic. As does Porter, standing before us now, irrepressible, and so likeable that you wish you could set him to music. Will lightning strike twice? Will a Beatle casually materialise? But Porter is talking again, more facts, more memorabilia. Yeah, yeah, yeah.” Traveller

“London Walks puts you into the hands of an expert on the particular area and topic of a tour…”  The New York Times

“The original and best – there are several companies offering walking tours of London but London Walks (London’s oldest) is easily the pick of the bunch”   London, Cadogan Guide

“A splendid time is guaranteed for all”  Toronto Globe and Mail

Best Beatles Walk  “If you are a Beatles fan then you will love touring London with Richard P! My family had the pleasure of joining Richard on the Beatles “In My Life” walk and enjoyed every moment. The tour is very informative and hits many great spots such as John and Yoko’s home, film locations for Beatles movies, and ends at Abbey Road. Richard is knowledgeable, projects well so you can hear every word he says, and takes great care to make sure the tour stays safe and together when walking down the streets of London. I want to go back to London just to experience more tours with this company!”  Pkid71 Saginaw, Michigan

Richard Porter was able to pack an amazing amount of dense historical information into a truly fun and entertaining tour. He was also able to use his booming voice and clear diction to effectively reach our sizable crowd. I was able to clearly hear each word, regardless of the relentless and constantly busy competing sounds of London. Great opportunity for Beatles fans or anyone interested in rock and roll history.

  2. Cynthia James

  3. Kia Aoki

Adam was a wonderful guide, and came complete with a soundtrack! My friend and I had the best time and saw so many interesting things we would have missed had we not done this.

  4. Raymond Lopez Castillo Best

A very warm gentleman with real insight and personal knowledge of the Beatles. I loved the photographs that he showed and the whole tour, very interesting and enjoyable.

  5. Katherine Neilson

Went on this tour yesterday with the fabulous Andy leading the way.

Only my Mum and myself had booked on so felt like a personal tour of the city!
Andy turned out in the cold weather even though it was only the two of us – some other companies would have probably cancelled the walk knowing that it was only two people!

I booked this tour as a Mothers Day present as my Mum is a massive Beatles fan – It certainly didn’t disappoint!

It was a very interesting tour with lots of extra stories thrown in – Andy was very knowledgeable about the band and took us to all the famous sites including Saville Row, Carnaby Street, the Gallery where John met Yoko and finishing up at Abbey Road studios where Andy very kindly spent time recording a video of us walking across the famous crossing

Couldn’t recommend this tour more – you won’t regret it

  6. Barry Chang Liverpool (co driver of the minibus that took The Beatles from Liverpool to Hamburg in August 1960 & photographer of the minibus on a crane and of The Beatles at Arnhem)

On New Year’s Day 2026 I joined Richard Porter with 35/40 other guests on his Beatles Magical Mystery walking tour in London.
Departing Tottenham Court Road Underground station @ 11:00 we walked into the Soho neighbourhood and visited several places of interest that had an association with the history of The Beatles including amongst other places, Paul’s office, Brian Epstein’s office, the John Lennon ‘underground toilet’.
Moving on we arrived at the Apple Office in Savile Row, the location of the famous outside rooftop performance, and from there into the Piccadilly area where we were shown the location where John met Yoko and various other venues.
From there we took the underground from Green Park to St John’s Wood from where it is only a short distance to the Abbey Road Studios and then had the opportunity to be photographed using what has become a ‘world famous zebra crossing’
The tour finished with a visit to the ‘Beatle coffee shop’ within St John’s Wood underground station.
We were shown many places that I had not seen before and I very much enjoyed the experience which I can absolutely recommend trying.
Richard’s knowledge of Beatle history both in and outside of London is tremendous.

  7. Kalle

Fabulous tour! Richard was so knowledgeable and passionate sharing so many interesting facts and photos about the Beatles and the local area. The route was so well thought out and he offered snippets into the past and present. Loved every moment and would highly recommend.

We had a 3 days stay at London – our very first one – and it surely was the BEST decision to book this Magical Mystery Tour Walk! We discovered corners in Soho, that we never would have crossed. We are a couple from Germany with one top Beatles fan amongst us. Ian “Lucky“ Luck made this tour very special. We learned a lot about where the Beatles where hanging around, and also about what else was going in in music business those days. Ian was heartwarming and enterntaining, took us to all the important places including Abbey Road and didn‘t even mind to stand in the middle of the road and give instructions, and take pictures of everyone, so we could all take the best souvenir back home. And on top, he offered to join in at a small café nearby for some warming tea and tasty cake. We really had a great afternoon! Thanks Ian!

  9. Torgeir Fjeld

Great walk. Did one with him in 2022 as well, and both the best ever. Adam is the perfect guide. He is a walking dictionary, knowing even more then you find in one……And he does the job with humour and cleverness you don`t often find. One thing is for sure; we`ll be back for more!

  10. Kenny Crouch

A wonderful afternoon spent in the company of Adam on the Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour.
He certainly knows his stuff and kept the group entertained with his many anecdotes,
all done with such good humour too.
