All the delights and delicacies of a London Victorian Christmas with Charles Dickens‘s famous story A Christmas Carol as your route map and inspiration.

We’ll deck the streets of London with balls of jolly. Scrooge and Marley and the Cratchits… they’re all here. This was where Dickens’s imagination took wing and where the characters did their thing. And as we make their acquaintance we’ll spice things with warming seasonal stories of turkeys and boars’ heads, Christmas puds, mince pies and pantomimes; cards, crackers, Christmas trees and mistletoe.

Let alone the bells that rang out on Christmas morning to wake Scrooge up, a much-changed character.

  1. Graziella

The Dickens Christmas walk with Simon was absolutely fantastic and we enjoyed every minute of the walk.

  2. Claire

Simon was an energetic and knowledgeable man who showed us hidden magic in the city streets. At times you could see dickins walking the same places writing the classics in his head. What a great way to spend a Saturday morning, thank you!

  3. Peter Larson

Simon, our guide for the Dickens Christmas walk was OUTSTANDING, as was the entire tour. He has tremendous knowledge of history and the ability to communicate clearly to a varied group of visitors to London. Well worth the time and fee.

  4. Victoria Wynn

A Christmas Carol and Seasonal Traditions was fabulous with Richard III. It must be hard to corral such a large group and still keep on time, but he did it masterfully. And to deliver such a wonderful talk along the way was tremendous. The references to “A Christmas Carol” were interwoven with historical references that gave added insight to the times. I’d go on any walk with Richard knowing that I’d be thoroughly entertained and enlightened.

  5. Jac Mac

We really enjoyed Richard’s (III) walk yesterday. He had a twinkle in his eye and a spring in his step as he told the tale of Dickens’ The Christmas Carol with added embellishment and interesting details. My friend was concerned about the size of the group but he shepherded around the streets and alleys expertly.
Looking forward to planning our next walk… thank you

  6. Judith Williams

Richard (AKA Richard the Third) was our guide today. He was knowledgeable, witty and very informative. I learned so much about Dickens that I didn’t know. I enjoyed visiting the places that were mentioned in his book. Richard was brilliant and didn’t disappoint.

  7. Sandra Hüwels

I was lucky enough to participate in Richard Burnip’s ‘Charles Dickens Christmas Carol & Seasonal Traditions walk’ today, and it was just brilliant!
Richard took us to St Olave’s Church, Leadenhall Market, Corn Hill and Cheapside and mentioned various possibilities for where Scrooge might have lived and worked.
It was filled with history and amazing views of old alleyways and their architecture.
Richard’s fantastic knowledge, good humour and incredible speaking voice made the walk illuminating and memorable.
Not to be missed, especially at Christmas!

  8. Madeline miller

Incredibly informative and entertaining. Simon’s knowledge and enthusiastic personality carried us through an otherwise, cold and rainy day. As a Londoner, I saw places in the city I wasn’t even aware of. Thanks.

  9. Rebecca eborall

Another great walk. They never disappoint. Simon was excellent and very informative. As a Londoner I still find the history fascinating.

  10. Pat O’Brien

Did this walk last Christmas and could not praise it enough. Walking amongst the people through the busy streets of London on a darkening winter afternoon, it felt as if we had become the ‘invisible presence’ that Richard, our guide, so memorably evoked from Dickens writings. Magical.
