Tom Lehrer’s London is a new London Walk. It’s guided and performed by the Mayor of Islington (I’m not kidding about this), who’s also a top-flight Blue Badge guide. Here’s what guide David has to say about the walk:
An act of homage to the great American satirist of the 50s and 60s. Bad singing will be encouraged as we sing our way around every stop with absolutely no sense of taste or decorum, as Tom would like. In his own words “If, after hearing my songs, just one human being is inspired to say something nasty to a friend, or perhaps to strike a loved one, it will all have been worth the while.”
Tom Lehrer’s London takes place at 7.15 pm on Saturday, March 21 and at 7.15 pm on Saturday, August 21. Meet David just outside exit 2 of Marble Arch Tube.
If you can’t make the regularly scheduled, just-turn-up, public Tom Lehrer’s London Walk do think about booking one as a private tour. If you go private you can have the Tom Lehrer’s London Walk – or any other London Walk – on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We’ll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Noel or Mary on 020 7624 3978 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll set it up and make it happen for you. A private London Walk – they’re good value for an individual or couple and sensational value for a group – makes an ideal group or educational or birthday party or office (team-building) or club outing.
A private London Walk makes a very special, thoughtful, unusual gift. Be it a birthday or anniversary or graduation or Christmas present or whatever. Merchandise schmerchandise (gift wrapped or not) – but giving someone an experience, now that’s special. Memories make us rich.
