Tunes At An Exhibition: Music in the Museums of London

From The British Museum to the National Gallery, we’re off on a virtual guided tour of London’s exhibition spaces tailored specially for music fans. We’ll also look at a few dedicated music museums further afield.

This meeting of The Monday Night Music History Club on Zoom will be a straightforward guidebook: how to find musical content in the museums and galleries of London. Often in places where you’d least expect to find it. The Hunterian? The Petrie Museum of Egyptology? The National Portrait Gallery? The Science Museum? There’s music aplenty… if you know where to look. Adam has done some digging and he’ll present his findings in a lively and entertaining night on Zoom.

We’ll also visit the wonderful Eel Pie Island Museum in Twickenham (which can also be seen on The Rock’n’Roll Explorer Day tours), as well as going further afield to Coventry, Hamburg and Memphis. Adam will also be reporting from the recently opened David Bowie collection in East London as well as the Blitz exhibition at the Design Museum in Kensington.

The Monday Night Music History Club has been running for just over a year now. You can drop in and out for individual episodes such as this one, or you can subscribe for a year.  Annual members get access to five virtual events/webinars conducted on Zoom, early announcements of Adam’s London Music Tours, discounts on selected walking tours with Adam and, from time-to-time, free tours. This online event takes place LIVE at 7.30pm LONDON TIME and will also be available to watch on demand.
