It all comes down to the guiding…

Ours is not a journey of virtue, ours is a journey of vice.

Indeed a journey of the capital vices or cardinal sins, otherwise known as the Seven Deadly Sins, leading us into the abyss of hell.  We will visit all seven of them: Lust, Avarice,

Sloth, Envy, Gluttony,

Anger

and Pride, and the people who committed them. People driven by their insatiable passions. The reset after each of the other six is lust. (Picture every other bead on a necklace being a hot, blushing red.)

So between each of the other deadly sins and their venues, their stops…it’s, oh boy, lust and more lust. Piled high…

Stacked up because lust powered, whipped, frenzied the men and women of the City of Westminster like no other sin.

At the end of the tour – the climax – Ulrike or Ian or Adam reveal the one person in history who incorporated all of the Seven Deadly Sins in his (or her) life. And they’ll shed a lot of light – not all of it lurid – about his (or her) personal influence on the history of London, the city built on sin.

Needless to say, you will meet royalty, But also artists, writers, heroes and even the original “It” girl of the Georgian period.

Join us on our sinful walk through Covent Garden and beyond.

A journey – this is a guarantee – you will remember!

Here’s a little Meet Your Guide podcast – it’s Ulrike telling us a little bit about her Seven Deadly Sins Tour.

Ulrike has also written a piece about Christabella Wyndham, one of the dramatis personae principals. It’s a good bit of salacious royal gossip and history without giving away the payoff.

SEVEN DEADLY SINS – THE PRACTICALS

Seven Deadly Sins takes place at 11 am every Monday. Meet Ulrike or Adam or Ian just outside the exit of Covent Garden  Tube.

LONDON WALKS REVIEWS

“A novel, witty and hugely entertaining walk delivered with enthusiasm and dare I say passion by Ulrike.” JulieWright836, London, TripAdvisor, December 2019

“What a gem of a walk! Ulrike’s tour of Covent Garden was packed full of fun, spicy facts of days of yore in Covent Garden. We laughed and reveled over 2 hours of easy, flat walking whilst Ulrike regaled us with many stories of people and places that have left their mark on these streets. Having lived in London for over 30 years, I still learnt many new things about this great city. A great tour to recommend to visitors, including those who think they may already have seen everything London has to offer. Thanks, Ulrike.” Helen F., London, TripAdvisor, November 2019

“We met Ulrike at the Covent Garden Tube stop, and enjoyed the most entertaining walk ever! She began by telling us that the seven deadly sins, were first identified by Pope Gregory 1 in the late sixth century, and are: pride, envy, wrath, gluttony, lust, sloth, and greed. She then launched into the various sins committed in the several locations she showed. Lust did seem to reign, but others did hold their own in this presentation. I highly recommend the tour and this walk in particular.” ASharp77, Hermosa Beach, California, TripAdvisor, November 2019

  1. Elizabeth King

A truly fascinating and entertaining tour. Thoroughly recommended . Ulrike is a brilliant guide and full of interesting facts and frivolities!
We are looking forward to doing her other walk of Seven Deadly Sins in the City.

  2. Catherine Morais

I went on the 7 Deadly Suns walk last Monday and didn’t really know what to expect. Ulrike has a very original walk which I highly recommend. She’s witty, well-informed and passionate about her subject. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

  3. Kerry

Ulricke was knowledgeable about the subject. We have done Covent Garden walks before and this one was different with lots of insights into the people who lived in London

  4. Carole

Ulrike was such a knowledgeable and amusing guide! The two hours flew by and we learned so much about the sordid past of London. She was definitely one of the best guides that we’ve had on these walks and I can’t wait to book one of her other walks soon. Thank you

  5. Ashley

We had a great time on Ulrike’s themed tour of Covent Garden! Ulrike masterfully told stories of notable figures from royals, the literati and “ladies of the night” alike, really bringing all the people and history of the place to life. I’ve been to Covent Garden many times but Ulrike led us through some tiny off the beaten track alleys, and highlighted some interesting, historical pubs and eateries. Very well researched and engaging tour, highly recommended.

  6. Kate Myers

Urike was an xcellent guide. Good mixture of serious information and humour.

  7. Tamara Hoover

Ulrike was so much fun! This was certainly an adult-themed walk, but one that was so welcomed! I truly laughed out at some of the stories, in addition to finding a few good restaurants (with a past) and a walk down Diagon Alley! I highly recommend it for the over 18 crowd.

  8. Valerio

Ulrike is a truly unique tour guide — simply outstanding!
I’m Italian, passionate about history and art, and quite used to dealing with these subjects. When I visit a new city, I usually prefer to study a book first and then go see what interests me. But Ulrike was a wonderful surprise, she manages to weave together historical facts with richly detailed descriptions of the periods in question, enriching them with anecdotes that are very hard to find in books. You can feel the passion and the solid historical preparation behind everything she says. And all of it is delivered with a lightness and natural ease that only a few truly possess.
A precious resource for a city like London.
Ulrike should absolutely be featured in the London Lonely Planet!

  9. Shane

Have done dozens of London Walks and had no better guide than Ulrike—she’s superb! This walk is incredibly well designed, packed with fascinating info about, yes, lust—but much more besides! Just the right amount of content and number of stops—our group applauded enthusiastically even after two hours in cold and rain—the time flew by. And I appreciated how easy it was to hear her, even amid busyness, and her sensitivity in picking a number of stops with shelter and seating—important and welcome details!

  10. Dave and Anne

Very entertaining, informative and always eye-opening stories of characters demonstrating one or more of the 7 deadly sins, including past royalty. Probably nothing you would have heard in history class back in grade school. Excellent start to a 10 day visit to London. Highly recommend.
