Alison is a lecturer for the London Blue Badge Course. A Dickens expert, she’s a prize-winning* Blue Badge Guide herself. When she’s not collecting Antiques! *”Prize-winning” is putting it modestly: she won the BCP, one of the two top awards. To use an American analogy, it’s the guiding equivalent of baseball’s Triple Crown!
She is passionate about local history and was part of a team that researched the men who had lost their lives in the First World War and had lived on her street in Saint Albans. Together they campaigned for and raised money for a plaque to the 15 men who lost their lives serving their country. As a street it saw the highest losses and yet there was nothing to honour them. It was a five-year project which culminated in a successful installation of a unique piece of street art designed by Renato Niemis.
She’s a Yorkshire lass and proud of her Sheffield roots.

Old, picturesque, storied, full of character, riverine, tucked away on its isthmus, sitting pretty – that’s Chiswick.
