Short description: Glass "plum" to Jacob's Island
Long description: To travel rather than be packaged – 'tis the name of the game. And here's the walk. It's one you go on because you want to see where it takes you. Because you really do want to discover. Because you want to see the London the hordes never get to see: old dockyards and twisty, crookbacked little alleys and pubs that are the real McCoy – London versions of "Cheers". Let alone the most heart-stopping view of the whole sweep of the river and its ancient city – all the more special because the previous generation of Londoners that got to walk along this stretch of the Thames would have been wearing periwigs, breeches, and buckle-shoes... and carrying snuff boxes. Yes, that's right, this stretch of "over the river" has only recently been opened up. This was walled off, walled up, entombed London. Sleeping Beauty London, sleeping away the centuries. Bit of a frisson to think it's been 300 years since people were last able to go where we're going this evening. Cheers indeed! Guided by Andy.
The Undiscovered London Pub Walk takes place at 7.15 pm on Sxxxxxx. Meet Andy just outside the Fish Street Hill exit of MonumentTube.
If you can't make the regularly scheduled, just-turn-up, public Undiscovered London Pub Walk do think about booking one as a private tour. If you go private you can have the Undiscovered London Pub Walk – or any other London Walk – on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We'll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Noel or Mary on 020 7624 3978 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll set it up and make it happen for you. A private London Walk – they're good value for an individual or couple and sensational value for a group – makes an ideal group or educational or birthday party or office (team-building) or club outing.
A private London Walk makes a fab present – be it a birthday or anniversary or get-to-know-your-new neighbourhood gift or Christmas present or whatever. Merchandise schmerchandise (gift wrapped or not) – but giving someone an experience, now that's special. Memories make us rich.
