Way different. Way better.
London is our main course but we also serve up wonderful side dishes in the shape of DAY TRIPS to The Cotswolds, Bath, Cambridge, Stonehenge, Oxford, Hampton Court, Leeds Castle, Canterbury, Windsor, St. Albans, etc.
DAY TRIPS consist of two different walks separated by a lunch break. And there's time for shopping or tea or a museum visit.
We travel by comfortable, high-speed train. It's fastly superior. If you go by coach you'll see a great deal of London traffic jams and the motorway but very little of The Cotswolds, Stonehenge, Bath, Hampton Court, Oxford, Windsor Castle, Cambridge, etc. Our train ride through the lovely old English countryside takes an hour or so. We're back in central London late afternoon/early evening – in time to catch a show.
Ok, the image is of course of an old-fashioned railway carriage. But it gets the feel – the tone, the mood, the agreeableness – of rail travel right, even if in technical and mechanical terms it's from a bygone era!
The cost? The guide's fee is £18.* For the total cost just add the Tariff to the guide's fee. The Tariff covers your fares** plus any entrance charges.
To go on a Day Trip meet by the main ticket office of the designated London Railway station at the time stated. Look for the group and your award-winning Blue Badge guide,*** who'll be holding up copies of the distinctive white London Walks leaflet.
*It's £16 for Super Adults (over 65s) and full-time students. Or £14 for people with the London Walks Loyalty Card. Kids under 15 accompanied by their parent(s) go free.
It's a moveable feast – the Summer 2018 schedule of Day Trips from London. Click on the main Day Trips from London page to get started.

**Train fares and, where applicable, boat or coach fares. By way of example, our Richmond & Hampton Court Day Trip goes by boat from Richmond to Hampton Court (by far the best way to get to Hampton Court). In that same vein – doing it the best possible way – we charter a local coach for a couple of the legs of our Cambridge trip. It's a mile from Cambridge Railway Station into central Cambridge so rather than trudge all that way by foot we're met off the train at Cambridge station by the local coach Simon's chartered. It runs us into central Cambridge in no time. And whisks us back to the station at the end of the day. Simon also uses it to take us to a fascinating neighbourhood on the outskirts of Cambridge that's too far to walk to. And he uses the coach for the short run out into the countryside to the very beautiful – and very moving – American World War II cemetery. Similarly The Cotswolds trips. Once the train gets us up there we've got a local coach to get us from village to village.
Brit Rail Pass holders travel free. The adult Tariffs are a big saving on the normal price. And there are normally further reductions for seniors and students. For kids a reduced Tariff is the only charge.
