Camelot on the silvery Thames. A 1,000-year-old castle commanding the Great Park and brooding over a mediaeval town. The most famous royal residence in the world. “The architectural epitome of the English nation… its fabric provides an insight into the evolving ideas about kingship and related rituals, about techniques of military defence, and about developing expectations of domestic comfort and convenience. But despite its familiar appearance, nothing at Windsor is quite what it seems… behind its imposing walls and gates lie centuries of secrecy, intrigue and forgotten visions of grandeur.” And just over the footbridge, Eton – where the superlatives peal like bells. The most famous school in the world; the nursery of kings; the crucible of a defining moment in history: “the Battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton.” Guided by Guiding Royalty: Award-winning Simon W.
We go to Windsor Castle & Eton on Saturday, June 6. Meet Hilary at 9.30 am by the main ticket office – it’s directly opposite platform 16 – of Waterloo Railway Station.
And here’s a helpful new add-on… Given that we’re only running the Windsor Castle & Eton trip once this summer – and given that peace of mind can’t wait (why should it have to?) – we’ve got, for the first time, a Reserve Your Place facility.
The cost is made up of the guide’s fee plus the Tariff (train fare and admission to Windsor Castle). The adult Tariff for the Day at Windsor Castle & Eton is £40 (there are further reductions for students and seniors). For children under 9 accompanied by their parent(s) a reduced Tariff is the only charge. For the total cost of the Day at Windsor Castle simply add the guide’s fee to the Tariff.
*The guide’s fee for the Day at Windsor Castle & Eton is £25 for adults. Or £22 for Super Adults (over 65s), students and people with the London Walks Discount Card. Youngsters aged 9-15 go for £8. Kids under 9 accompanied by their parent(s) go free.
The Tariffs – fares, admissions where applicable, etc. – for our Day at Windsor Castle & Eton and other Out of Town Trips are normally quite a bit cheaper than what you’d pay were you to “go it alone” with your fares, etc. But if you’ve got, say, a Brit Rail Card or some other super cheap deal that’s better than the one we get for you the train fare to and from Windsor – well, your Tariff will be pro-rated accordingly. You’ll never have to pay twice or pay over the odds.
If you can’t make the one-off, regularly scheduled, just-turn-up, public Windsor Castle & Eton Trip on June 6th do think about booking one as a private tour. If you go private you can have the Day at Windsor Castle & Eton Trip – or any other London Walk or out-of-town trip – on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We’ll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Noel or Mary on 020 7624 3978 or email us at [email protected] and we’ll set it up and make it happen for you. A private London Walk – they’re good value for an individual or couple and sensational value for a group – makes an ideal group or educational or birthday party or office (team-building) or club outing.
A private London Walk makes a fab gift – be it a birthday or anniversary or Christmas present or whatever. Merchandise schmerchandise (gift wrapped or not) – but giving someone an experience, now that’s special. Memories make us rich.
