Short read: Most exquisite village in England. And the largest stone circle complex on earth.
Whoa! “Surpasses Stonehenge as a cathedral doth a parish church.” And the most exquisite village in England. Avebury! Beggars all description. Largest stone circle complex on earth. Speaks to us across the ages, speaks of a secret geometry and lost science, of an ancient time more clairvoyant and star-born than ours. And, yes, you walk amongst them, touch them, selfie with the stones. Lacock! Where Pride & Prejudice and other movies were filmed. Living village. Four streets, houses of every century from the 13th onward, the river Avon and a swaddling brook, Snaylesmead (snails’ meadow) and Lacock Abbey (est. 1232, Mecca for photographers). Bonus! The white horses cut into the hills and Silbury, the largest Neolithic monument in Europe. (OMG does Silbury give pause. It’s the same age as – indeed, it is England’s Great Pyramid.)
We go to Avebury & Lacock on TBA.
To go on the Avebury & Lacock trip meet Simon at 8.40 am by the main ticket office of Paddington Railway Station. The main ticket office of Paddington Railway Station is very near Platforms 1 & 2. The Tariff (train fare, coach fare, etc.) is £62. For the total cost of the trip just add the Tariff to the guide’s fee*
*The guide’s fee for a London Walks Out of Town Trip is £25 for adults. Or £22 for Super Adults (over 65s), students and people with the London Walks Discount Card. Youngsters aged 9-15 go for £8. Kids under 9 accompanied by their parent(s) go free.

If you can’t make one of the regularly scheduled, just-turn-up, public Avebury & Lacock trips do think about booking one as a private tour. Sure, going private is more expensive* than going on the public tour but not over the odds. If you go private you can have the Avebury & Lacock Tour – or any other London Walk – on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We’ll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Noel on 020 7624 3978 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll set it up and make it happen for you. Makes a fabulous wedding present or birthday gift or anniversary outing. Merchandise schmerchandise (gift wrapped or not) – but giving someone an experience, now that’s special. Memories make us rich. *Well, it’s more expensive for an individual or a couple or a very small group. It isn’t more expensive – indeed, a private tour is less expensive – for a group of, say, 18+ people.
