“We had a lot of glamorous people here” – Meet Shirley on Kensington Church Walk

Pitched up early for my Kensington Walk a few weeks ago and managed to persuade the delightful Shirley to talk to us about her life and times in London (Shirley grew up in Goa) and especially about Garnet, her tiny specialist jewellery shop – ‘a little gem of Kensington’ it’s been called – in Kensington Church Walk, my all-time favourite Kensington secret passageway. Shirley’s now ‘the head girl’ – she’s been in Kensington Church Walk three decades now. And as you’d expect, she’s got a tale or two to tell.
