Green Park underground station, London (north exit, on the corner)
Guided by Peter G.
You must reserve your place online for this walk. Select your date and time on the table below.
Short read: “The champagne & caviar of London Walks.” With pubs.
Long read: Does it get any better than that? A place where Old Masters and old money, Rolls Royces and glamour, titles and butlers are par for the course. London’s finest townhouse and nightingales thrumming away in the square. It’s London’s best name-dropping because Mayfair’s been home to Admiral Nelson (and his mistress Lady Emma Hamilton), Clive of India, Disraeli, Handel, Florence Nightingale, Peter Sellers, Jimi Hendrix, Dodi Fayed, and the Earl Mountbatten, to name but a few. And the go figure factor? Try this for size. The parallelogram of purses boasts London’s best village within a village: Shepherd Market, a charming little nest of alleys that hasn’t lost a jot of its 18th-century scale and village atmosphere, let alone its raffishness. N.B. the walk ends near Bond Street Tube.
The Mayfair Pub Walk takes place at TBA
The meeting point is on the corner, outside the North exit of Green Park Tube. The walk ends close to Bond Street and Oxford Street Tube stations.
Want a preview of the walk and the guiding? Here’s the video filmmaker Jon Klein shot of Richard III’s daytime Old Mayfair walk, which has lots in common with the Mayfair pub walk.
If you can’t make one of the regularly scheduled, just-turn-up, public Mountain Building & Meteorites in the City of London walks it can always be booked as a private tour. If you go private you can have the The Old Mayfair Pub Walk walk – or any other London Walk – on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We’ll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Noel or Mary on 020 7624 3978 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll set it up and make it happen for you. A private London Walk – they’re good value for an individual or couple and sensational value for a group – makes an ideal group or educational or birthday party or office (team-building) or club outing.
A private London Walk makes a fab gift – be it a birthday or anniversary or Christmas present or whatever. Merchandise schmerchandise (gift wrapped or not) – but giving someone an experience, now that’s special. Memories make us rich.
