A kaleidoscope of Skiffle, Jazz and Music Hall against a backdrop of Blitzed-out Londonrationing, compulsory military service, the art schools and the long shadow of war.

Coffee shops, the old-school Tin Pan Alley showbiz regime of Denmark Street, the history of the theatre in the West End and the first tentative steps on the road to the Beatlemania and beyond.

Tour Three: The Beatles & The Rolling Stones

Wednesday 25th November 2020

Live 7 pm via Zoom

The Beatles or The Rolling Stones? Who’s your favourite?

The biggest names in Rock’n’Roll. Made right here in London. Rivals? Enemies? Friends or foes?

Our tour visits their places, unravels the myths, looks at the music – and with each new anecdote we will see how the story of pop and rock advanced with their every move.

Crucially we will look back to the sounds of Black America – the music of the Mississippi Delta through the prism of Chicago, the electric music that charged a generation of suburban English kids from Dartford, Kent to Woolton, Lancashire .

In RichmondChelsea and Soho we’ll be on the spot when the paths of The Beatles & Stones cross – studios, clubs, pubs and drug busts.

The world was never the same again

Tour Four: Beatlemania! 1961-1965

Monday 30th November 2020

Live 7 pm via Zoom

From the freezing blue winter of ’61/’62 to the Day-Glo threshold of the Summer of Love via the White Hot Heat of political, social and artistic upheaval… this is the rise, rise and RISE of The Fab Four – the optimistic years.

There’s a place… Piccadilly Circus for the glamorous premiere of A Hard Day’s Night; The theatre where Beatlemania was born; The club where George & John to their first acid trip; The old HMV shop where a Brian Epstein chance encounter change the path of pop culture

The Period… The BBC and the pop music “ban”. The fall of a government under the weight of a sex scandal. The Ban The Bomb marches from Trafalgar Square.

Tour Five: The Kinks

We are the Fortis Green Preservation Society! How three Muswell Hillbilly Boys (and a would-be Stone who passed over the river from down Richmond way) became Well Respected Men. A virtual tour in search of The Kinks in their glory days.

Ready, Steady, Go… 5 years that changed the face of pop & rock 1964-69… 4 of the unlikeliest pop stars of all-time… 3 number one hits… 2 warring brothers… 1 unique story

In search of the London locations of one of the world’s biggest bands. Pigs WILL fly as we hit Regent Street Polytechnic, Battersea, Tottenham Court Road, Covent Garden is search of the band’s 1960s genesis and early 1970s pomp.

When we’ve found Pink Floyd’s London our 1960s story draws to a close as the music goes off to bigger, and darker things…

Have a cigar, you’re gonna go far…
