Bond nearly always began his missions in London, but in recent years the capital has seen plenty of thrilling action for 007. This walk explores key locations for Daniel Craig’s Bond including the pursuit of Silva in Skyfall and the abduction of Dr Swann in Spectre, plus a hint or two about No Time to Die. But that’s not all: other gems include following the footsteps (or, more accurately, the tyre-marks) of David Niven’s Bentley and Bernard Cribbins’ taxi in the 1967 Casino Royale; the unlikely location of Secret Service Headquarters in The Living Daylights; the fencing-club where Pierce Brosnan displayed his skill in Die Another Day; and the unusual venue for a 1968 George Lazenby photo shoot. Plus Roger Moore emerging from an Aston Martin, not as 007 but as Lord Brett Sinclair in The Persuaders!, Michael Caine’s legendary Harry Palmer receiving instructions from Colonel Ross in The IPCRESS File; and Patrick McGoohan learning the difficulties of resigning from British Intelligence in The Prisoner. Add a few classic small-screen agents into the mix, such as Spooks, Reilly Ace of Spies and The Sandbaggers, and St James’s and the Whitehall corridors of power will never seem quite the same again.
