Guided by a practising criminal defence lawyer, this small-group walk offers rare insider insight into London’s legal world.

Joanne, our criminal defence lawyer guide for the small-group Inns of Court walk.
Savour the tranquility of the Inns of Court, one of London’s most beautiful spots and home of the legal profession since the 15th century.
How are the Inns so closely connected to the colonisation – and ultimate independence – of the United States of America? Discover how Magna Carta 1215 is the foundation of the Rule of Law, Liberty and Human Rights.

Staple Inn on High Holborn, one of London’s rare surviving Elizabethan timber-framed buildings and the meeting point for our small-group lawyer-guided Inns of Court walk.
Our commentary focuses on both the history of the area and the legal system and profession as it is today. We will include a visit to the spectacular gothic revival interior of the Royal Courts of Justice, a “cathedral of law!”

Tom, one of our barrister guides on the Inns of Court walks.
This is an insider’s take with the chance to get to grips with our legal system, ask as many questions as you like and to view court proceedings (subject to court listings).

Joanne was informative and interesting. She explained how the legal system works in Britain, the history of the buildings, and answered everyone’s questions. We really enjoyed our walk with her!

My daughter and I did the Inns of Court and Royal Courts tourwith Joanne Lee this morning. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Joanne has a huge amount of knowledge of the legal system and the history of these beautiful buildings. We highly recommend!
Wendy Nicholas –
Joanna was absolutely brilliant. She was really engaging, flexible and knowledgeable. Despite my husband and I spending quite a lot of time around thr Inns, we learned so much more than we had previously known.
She was really kind, engaging and went out of her way to make our tour special. Thank you, Joanna!
Vivienne French –
Joanne was a great guide and led us around these amazing buildings with ease. It’s amazing to be in this little group departing from noisy London streets into a silence of beautiful architecture where birds and the odd aircraft dominate. Join this tour to enjoy the history of worldwide (English) law and how these wonderful buildings and their traditions were created and to this day remain the gold standard.

I think I’m a knowledgeable Londoner!! Not!!
Joanne’s tour was sheer delight. It was far too short for the wealth of knowledge she has to impart… which she does with great finesse & humour. The tour illustrated to me a whole part of London I never knew existed & is absolutely beautiful. You’ll get your money’s worth in spades!
Karen L –
Phenomenal. Joanne is a wonderful guide with a specialist’s knowledge that brings these special buildings to life. She is interested in each person who asks a question; in each person on the tour. She was also happy to talk about a wide range of topics related to the law and British society. This tour is not to be missed.
Viv Pyner –
A very enjoyable walk with Joanne who entertained us with many stories and is obviously very knowledgeable. It is well worth going on this walk if you have any interest in the law and you finish in the Royal Courts of Justice which is a huge building, much bigger than I had imagined.
Marialisa –
This was one of the best walking tour I’ve ever had the priviledge to attend. Joanne was extremely informative and very patient when answering my numerous questions. I think that this tour is a must if you really want to delve into the British society!
Nicola –
Excellent insight into the English legal system, history and architecture. Highly recommended
Pamela Fuselli –
Inns of Court and Royal Courts of Justice Guided by Joanne was amazing! She wove architecture, law principles & processes along with history in a tour that took me to the hidden, quiet spaces of the four Inns of Court. The tour ended at the Royal Courts of Justice. Again fascinating stories, history and current judicial affairs. That Joanne is a solicitor makes it that much better as she has the depth of knowledge to answer any question. Book this tour next time you’re in London.
