Yes, that’s right, we did, David. And you’re right, it is.
Anyway, Stewart’s now got a second Hampstead Spies Walk. It’s called Hampstead Spies – the Atomic Secrets. And here’s a heads up: it’s taking place this Saturday, July 19th at 10.45 am. Meet Stewart just outside the exit of Belsize Park Underground Station.
*Stewart Purvis CBE is London Walks’ most distinguished guide. He was the Editor and subsequntly the CEO of ITN (Independent Television News). He is, as a national newspaper put it, “one of the architects of modern television news.”
When Stewart retired he turned himself into an expert on 20th-century espionage, especially World War II and Cold War espionage. He’s written two highly regarded books on the subject. And, as you’d expect, he’s got nonpareil contacts.
Also as you’d expect, his walks pull in rave review after rave review.
And finally, should you be wondering, CBE is the acronym for Commander of the British Empire. It’s the highest of ‘gongs’ – next step up is a knighthood.
