This is a segment from Adam’s Bob Dylan in London Virtual Tour. This segment focuses on Bob Dylan’s stay at the swishest London hotel of them all, The Savoy. It’s a delectable six minutes. The Dylan stuff is wonderful – “it was in this little alleyway beside Savoy that Dylan accidentally invented the pop music video” and “Alan Ginsburg [the Beat poet, who accompanied Dylan to London] was the Where’s Wally of the 1960s” – but no less a treat is the way Adam “contexts” everything, he “guides” the Savoy, in the Dixon of Dock Green connection he deftly brings in a smidgeon of choice 1960s popular British culture stuff as presented on the BBC, etc. It’s a good listen.
