Walk the Hampstead streets that fostered a stellar artistic community in the early 20th century, absorbing refugees from Nazi terror. For some of the Bauhaus group the iconic Isokon building was home.
In the same streets, from a previous wave of German emigrés, Karl Marx lived and died. Continuing downhill you can pick out the majestic Roundhouse a vestige of the first feverish railway expansion.
