IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE GUIDING

Meet your guide – here’s a great interview with award-winning geologist Ruth Siddall

Who built the Monument and what stones did they use? Find out the story behind this unusual building and its links to the exploration of space as well as the history of the Eastcheap area as seen through its building stones. This is also one of the best places for spotting fossils in the City of London and we will also catch a glimpse of the Moon!

URBAN GEOLOGY WITH A TOP-FLIGHT, AWARD-WINNING, PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGIST

Ruth’s the real deal.

Ruth was an excellent guide on this very hot day, adapting our route so we stayed in the shade as much as possible, while seeing all the important stuff! Her talk was informative, amusing, lively and pitched perfectly both for those amongst us who’d studied geology at degree level, and the geologically clueless (me!) We gazed in wonder at beautiful stone buildings and monuments, listening to her painting pictures of days gone by. Fantastic!
