POMP & PAGEANTRY
 Perambulatum Exhilarat Animum

The real keys of the kingdom - or at least its capital - can be found in the unique little pageants that mark the passage of the City's year since time immemorial. This is a series of walks that explores that "parallel universe seething away just beneath the surface of the City of London". A series of walks that looks at - and takes in - London's ancient, little-known, intimate and very colourful ceremonies. It's a chance to "catch" something very special that the "many headed" never get to see. Not only catch it, "front row it". In short, because the ceremonies are little known* ("London specialises in hiding the best of itself") we'll be able to get very close. So be sure to bring your camera.

Over the next few months there will be four Pomp & Circumstance Walks taking place.

On Monday, October 19th it's The London Rosetta Stain - A Painterly Procession. It goes at 1.45 pm from Mansion HouseTube. Meet Karen (winner of the London Tourist Board's Guide of the Year Award) just outside exit 1.

On Wednesday, December 2nd it's Robes, Furred Gowns, a Boar's Head & the Lord Mayor. It goes at 1.45 pm from FarringdonTube. It'll also be guided by Karen.

On Wednesday, February 17th it's Shakespeare, Sir Toby Belch & the Ancient Cakes & Ale Ceremony. It goes at 1.30 pm from St. Paul'sTube. Meet Chris just outside exit 2.

On Friday, April 2nd it's The Imperishable Parish Past - 21 Poor Widows, Tanners & Hot Cross Buns. It goes at 10.15 am from St. Paul'sTube. Meet Judy (winner of the London Tourist Board's Guide of the Year Award) just outside exit 2.

*Inward-looking as opposed to "made for tourists". Which is what you'd expect, precisely because they're ancient. Pre-tourist, in other words!
