Guided by Matthew
The flamboyant, combative and tirelessly innovative American artist J M Whistler lived in London for most of his professional life. This walk tours his stamping ground of Kensington and Chelsea. It includes – these are just a few of the walk's brushstrokes – the views of the Thames that inspired his Nocturnes, the house where he painted his famous portrait of his mother, and the mansion in which he created the renowned 'Peacock Room' – sparking off his most bitter feud. The walk is guided by artist and art historian Matthew.
THE JAMES MCNEILL WHISTLER WALK – THE PRACTICALS
The J M Whistler walk takes place at 11 am on Monday, August 26. Meet Matthew just beyond the ticket barrier of South KensingtonTube.
If you can't make the regularly scheduled, just-turn-up, public James McNeill Whistler walk do think about booking one as a private tour. If you go private you can have the James McNeill Whistler Walk – or any other London Walk – on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We'll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Noel or Mary on 020 7624 3978 or email us at [email protected] and we'll set it up and make it happen for you. A private London Walk – they're good value for an individual or couple and sensational value for a group – makes an ideal group or educational or birthday party or office (team-building) or club outing.
A private London Walk makes a fab present – be it a birthday or anniversary or get-to-know-your-new neighbourhood gift or Christmas present or whatever. Merchandise schmerchandise (gift wrapped or not) – but giving someone an experience, now that's special. Memories make us rich.
