Ok, so much for the trailers, here’s tonight’s feature…
From fear to eternity… Tales & trails of the strange and uncanny. Revenants.* Re-entries from eternity into our time. Taking survey – and surveilling, which is precisely what they’re doing to us – in the echoing, empty, shadow-draped, night-time City of London. Taking survey of the whole spectrum of weird goings-on in the most haunted city on earth. Everything from small but unaccountable phenomena to genuinely frightening experiences. So, yes, it’s that time, that time of year. Time to pierce the veil which hides the future after death. The time when rooftop cats look down – their eyes green as ringstones – and see things that maybe we shouldn’t see. Down here in the creepiest part of London… in alleyways so narrow you can’t open an umbrella in them. And so old they’re cobwebbed with time. And cobwebbed with something else. Cobwebbed with events that occurred long ago – events that under certain conditions can again become dynamic. So when you see the unholy Trinity – and you will see it – and when silver dragons leer at you – and they will – and if you hear footsteps up a deserted alleyway – or voices of persuasion that whisper in the darkness – or catch a glimpse of a hooded, staring transparent figure… Congratulations – you’ve just fed a haunting. It’ll be back. And one day… so will you.
*Revenants – from the French word revenir, to return. Tangible, corporeal presences that shouldn’t be present; presences that refuse to stay in their tombs, that insist on climbing out and stalking us
The In the Gloaming, Guaranteed Ghosts, Weirded Out in Haunted London Halloween Special takes place at 8 pm on Thurday, October 31. The meeting point is just outside the Fish Street Hill exit of Monument Tube Stop.
If you can’t make one of the regularly scheduled, just-turn-up, public Mountain Building & Meteorites in the City of London walks it can always be booked as a private tour. If you go private you can have the The Halloween Season Special – Haunted London walk – or any other London Walk – on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We’ll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Noel or Mary on 020 7624 3978 or email us at [email protected] and we’ll set it up and make it happen for you. A private London Walk – they’re good value for an individual or couple and sensational value for a group – makes an ideal group or educational or birthday party or office (team-building) or club outing.
A private London Walk makes a fab gift – be it a birthday or anniversary or Christmas present or whatever. Merchandise schmerchandise (gift wrapped or not) – but giving someone an experience, now that’s special. Memories make us rich.
