A walk of astonishing contrasts. A walk whose centrepiece is a London village. A London village rich in history. A London village nestled in beauteous countryside. Did I detect a pause at the mention of history? Coaching inns, a market town since the 13th century, horse fairs, a decisive battle, Barnet’s been in the thick of it.
