Just back from the awards ceremony. Still pinching ourselves. London Walks has done it. Won the big one. The award of awards. Took the Gold Medal in The Best Tourism Experience category. Here's the actual announcement - and the frightfully buttoned-up, subdued, restrained response that ensued. A classic instance of that famous British reserve, you know.
Anyway, that pretty well says it all.
Except this: wordsmith- (and guide-) extraordinaire Adam's blogged a scrumptiously witty little account of the event - and the outcome - over on the blog. And livened it up with some photos. Of Nick and Mary. It's here - check it out.
(An aside - is there anything that Nick - one of the most gifted* actors [let alone guides] of his generation - doesn't excel at? Between stints at the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company and the West End stage and the box and the big screen, he's also an authority on Indian cookery. When he's not yachting through the North Sea. Or turning his hand to some pretty special graphic design high wire acts [Nick whipped up the Gold Medal logo front and centre on the homepage].)
