Short read: “There are places I’ll remember all my life”

Long read: So sang the Beatles in one of their most evocative songs. Many of those places are in the “London Town” of this walk. So get back with Richard P. “the Pied Piper of Beatlemania” –  to the film locations for A Hard Day’s Night and Help, the registry office where two of the Fabs got married, and the apartment immortalised by Ringo, John and Yoko. We’ll also see the house where Paul lived with his glamorous girlfriend, actress Jane Asher. Those were the days… for it was in that house that John and Paul wrote I want to hold your hand. To cap it all: the legendary Abbey Road studios and crosswalk. As the Toronto Globe and Mail said of the walk, “A splendid time is guaranteed for all.” “So let me introduce to you, the one and only… Richard P., the 6th Beatle.”

LONDON WALKS REVIEWS

“RICHARD Porter is the smartest man in Britain – at least when it comes to The Beatles. In reality, considering the Sixties pop scene was a hotbed of sex and psychedelic drugs, he probably knows more about The Beatles than the remaining members of the Fab Four can remember themselves.” Brian Crisp National Travel Editor, Escape

“When it comes to possessing a thorough knowledge of the movements of the Beatles, there are few who can surpass Richard Porter. Dubbed the “Beatles Brain of Britain,” his personal kinship with John, Paul, George and Ringo makes the London tours he conducts for London Walks some of the most popular in the city. After more than 20 years and guiding around 150,000 visitors, Richard’s lead is the one to heed. His personal knowledge adds an element of credibility that is unavailable elsewhere.”  USA Today

“The walls in front of the famous studios are smeared with a million cliches, long-standing graffiti proclaiming the fans’ undying love. Here, several years ago, Paul McCartney appeared while Porter was doing his tour. Springing cheerily from his limo, Paul consorted with the fans before vamoosing to cut his album. Porter had captured the moment. Snap! We are agog. For there it is: Paul looking cherubic. As does Porter, standing before us now, irrepressible, and so likable that you wish you could set him to music. Will lightning strike twice? Will a Beatle casually materialise? But Porter is talking again, more facts, more memorabilia. Yeah, yeah, yeah.” Traveller

“London Walks puts you into the hands of an expert on the particular area and topic of a tour…”  The New York Times

“The original and best – there are several companies offering walking tours of London but London Walks (London’s oldest) is easily the pick of the bunch”   London, Cadogan Guide

Best Beatles Walk  “If you are a Beatles fan then you will love touring London with Richard P! My family had the pleasure of joining Richard on the Beatles “In My Life” walk and enjoyed every moment. The tour is very informative and hits many great spots such as John and Yoko’s home, film locations for Beatles movies, and ends at Abbey Road. Richard is knowledgeable, projects well so you can hear every word he says, and takes great care to make sure the tour stays safe and together when walking down the streets of London. I want to go back to London just to experience more tours with this company!”  Pkid71 Saginaw, Michigan

Richard is of course “the Pied Piper of Beatlemania.”  But “the 6th Beatle” shares top billing with co-star Beatles Walks colleagues: musician-guide Adam – who performs a live on-a-famous-stage, 20-minute set on his Rock ‘n’ Roll London Pub WalkBeatles era top model and latter-day London Walks guide Desiree, who knew them; actor Andy who plays a mean guitar; and Liverpool-born RSC actor Steve, whose impersonation of John Lennon is a resurrection!

My sister and I took the Beatles walk Tuesday, 27 February. We had the most wonderful time hearing Ollie talk about a time in all our lives when something extraordinary was in our lives in the 60s and still in our hearts today.
Ollie was magnificent in his description to those privileged moments to be part of that London scene (except at that time, we lived in Scotland). His articulation to the music, the people, the time, the scenes, The Beatles – we felt we were there with The Beatles. Ollie you would make The Beatles very proud to be on that walk with you. Well done. This was the best London Walk we were thrilled to be with you and the best part was knowing you enjoyed it too. See you again with our family. I was telling strangers en route home you must do this walk.👍❤️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶It’s fantastic and so much fun.

We had Richard as our guide for our “In My Life” Beatles walking tour and he was great! His knowledge about all things Beatles is amazing and his enthusiasm is infectious. Both my husband and I enjoyed this tour as a fun way to see some of the Beatles haunts, learn lots of fun trivia, and have a nice walk around London.

  4. Kayla (US)

“Would highly recommend this tour if you’re a Beatles fan in London! Richard is really kind and informative and is a great storyteller. The tour is fun and is a great way to see both iconic and lesser known Beatles locations in London.”

  5. Carolyn Parker

We really enjoyed our “In My Life” tour with Adam. He was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable. So glad we signed up for this tour and were able to see so many places where the Beatles worked and lived.

  6. Kelly

Absolutely fantastic tour. Arranged for my sons 18th. An avid Beatles fan. He greatly enjoyed the tour. Topped off by finishing at Abbey Road Studios. Great knowledge and vibe from the tour guide. Defo recommend.

  7. Claire

I chose the Beatles walk as it was for a team building day and we had colleagues from US, Greece and Oslo, and they were keen to see some of the iconic sites in London, and, having done a few London walks, knew that they are a brilliant way to see well known but also unexpected parts of London. Our guide Adam was brilliant, very knowledgeable, engaging and funny. We all thoroughly enjoyed the walk and would highly recommend.

We had a lovely tour with Adam for the In My Life tour. I had no idea that Ringo was sp entrepreneurial. I particularly liked the site where Yesterday was created. Thank you!!!!

The Beatles Walking Tour with Adam is more than a mere “walking tour.” It is meeting a new friend and enjoying a warm, comfortable, interactive experience as he mesmerizes you with his tantalizing knowledge and understanding of the intimate details pertaining to a subject you both love so much—The Beatles.
Adam has a magnetic, energetic personality that is immediately relatable to as a friend rather than a mere tour guide.
His enthusiastic passion for the Fab Four is electrifying as he safely escorts you through the busy streets of London, thrilling you with the interesting details of their rise to stardom and what their lives were like at the top of the music industry. I thought I knew a lot about The Beatles, but Adam provided story after story of completely unknown treasures.
Adam’s thorough knowledge of the sixties rock industry allows him to paint a portrait of not only The Beatles, but how they interacted with other rock personalities of their day.
For me, one of the more touching moments was listening to Adam’s vivid details as we walked Paul’s daily path from his house to the recording studio during the Get Back sessions. And then, of course, there is “The Crosswalk.”
I thank Adam and London Walks for providing me such a rich, loving, satisfying experience with four men I have never met, but now know so much more about. From the bottom of my heart, Adam, I thank you.
