HISTORIC GREENWICH -
and the best boat ride in London

A most excellent guide, after a few minutes...

There was almost some irony right at the start, but Chris managed to turn up on time.

Clearly, as the clocks had moved forward - and what better time to head over to Greenwich - Chris probably didn't have the best of mornings prior to this particular tour.

Me: "Is this the Greenwich tour?"
Chris: "It will be in a moment"

Ok then! That told me.

I can almost picture her dismay at the ragtag bunch of wierdo's she had to drag around London. A group of clearly hungover 50 somethings, keen to show how witty they were. Myself and my partner in crime, Cathy - two camera geeks seemingly more interested in taking photo's than listening and a very quiet couple from Holland with no facial expressions. A german joined us later.

I warmed to our guide when she made the latter three honouree Brits for the duration of the walk.

Thankfully, the "hungover crew", with their initial 'wit' spent (after about 5 minutes), spent most of the tour looking a little green.

Chris started to warm to the task and she certainly had attentive ears from myself and Cathy - the geeky camera dudes.

She was witty, very knowledgable and despite the intense cold, did manage to raise a wry smile or two.

I like to believe she was happy to at least have two people very keen on learning and perhaps that's what counts - I do hope she enjoyed the day, despite clearly getting out of bed on the wrong side.

Thank you Chris - your an excellent guide, in the face of adversity, you shone through and we had a great day!

The adversity was the cold:

We (two girls 16 and 21, dad and mum) went for the Greenwich walk with Chris this summer. She was absolutely fab - to put it in her own words ;-)
The first guide ever to keep the girls alert throughout an entire trip.
Anything worth knowing about Greenwich was disseminated to us via facts, jokes and references.
A most enjoyable day!
